Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker and consultant, a speaker, columnist syndicated writer, author and television personality. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company within a short time. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented employee throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran had difficulty at school and discovered later that she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to the local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite not completing several classes in her first year.
